Rose Festival Parade!
Congratulations to the Sunset Apollo Marching Band &
Auxiliary for placing 1st in the Class A division in the
2010 Rose Festival Parade! What a great way to end the
year. The kids looked sharp in their new uniforms. Go

band & 2nd place for our combo.
1st Place at the 2010 Reno Jazz
Festival (Class A). This is
the first time in the school’s history that the Jazz
band has placed 1st at this competition.

Albertsons Community Partners fundraiser
An easy way that SAMBA earns dollars (without
much effort from us) is to shop at Albertsons -- a Community
Partner with SAMBA. All you need to do is link you
Albertsons Preferred Savings Card to SAMBA. And it costs you
nothing! Click for

Volunteer background checks required
The Beaverton School District requires background checks
for all volunteers across the district. That means that all
adults who help out during the marching season, from
flipping burgers to chaperoning to selling tickets at the
Sunset Classic, must be approved by the District. The
form is online and very quick and easy. Please take a
couple of minutes today and click this link to
submit your background check request:

If you have already completed the background check, it does
cover all Beaverton schools. Your name will not show up on
Sunset's list, but Sunset personnel are able to confirm with
the district office that you have been approved.
The district is working a web page that will allow
approved volunteers to add additional schools.
Please forward this link to any friends or family who would
also like to help us out during the season and encourage
them to submit their request as soon as possible as well.

Upcoming Dates:

Rose Festival Practice Dates: May
25, 27, June 1 and 8. From 6:00pm-7:30pm. Saturday
June 12, Students will need to arrive at SHS for the
Grand Floral Parade in Uniform at 9:00am. Students will
return at 2:45pm. Upon arrival at SHS, all students will
need to check in their Marching Band Uniform for summer
cleaning.

Graduation Band. All Freshmen and
returning Wind Ensemble students will need to meet in
the Bandroom at 4:00pm on June 10 for the graduation
performance at the Chiles Center. Students will return
to SHS at 9:45pm

Band Camp: Freshmen Wind Players
